Wedding Day Tragedy: Gun Show Ends in Disaster as Bullet Caught on Camera
Retired Specialist Sergeant Mehmet Çelik tragically lost his life after being hit by a bullet from a mobster’s gun at a wedding in Kuzgeçe village on June 3, 2023. Despite all efforts made at the hospital, Çelik could not be saved from his injuries.
The shocking incident was caught on camera, showing the moment when the bride and groom, along with others, fired guns in the air during the wedding celebration. Chaos ensued as people, including the bride and groom, fled in panic after Çelik was struck by a bullet.
Following the incident, Sıdkı Ç., who was detained in connection with the shooting, spent two months in prison before being sentenced to house arrest until the next hearing. Melahat Çelik, the grieving spouse of Mehmet Çelik, spoke out before the hearing on March 8, expressing her outrage at the events that led to her husband’s death.
“These images were an invitation to murder. Guns were fired as if there was a conflict, and no one intervened to stop the chaos,” said Melahat Çelik. “I am filing a complaint against everyone involved in my husband’s death, and I demand justice to be served as soon as possible.”
The community is in mourning over the loss of the retired soldier, and calls for stricter measures to prevent such tragic incidents from happening in the future.
