White House Extends Ceasefire Agreement between Israel and Hezbollah

The White House has announced that the reconciliation between Lebanon and Israel, which is monitored by the USA, will remain in effect until February 18, 2025. This statement also included information about negotiations that will be initiated for the extradition of Lebanese detainees captured after October 7, 2023.
Unfortunately, tensions have escalated between Lebanon and Israel, with the Israeli army carrying out attacks that resulted in the deaths of 22 people and the injury of 124 others. Despite a ceasefire agreement reached with Lebanon, the Israeli army has not withdrawn from the occupied areas.
The Israeli army was expected to withdraw from Lebanon by January 26, according to the terms of the ceasefire agreement. However, the Israeli army announced on January 24 that it could not complete the full withdrawal on time, citing logistical reasons.
It is important to note that the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel went into effect on November 27, 2024, with the goal of allowing the gradual deployment of the Lebanese army to the occupied regions in the south of the country and the subsequent withdrawal of the Israeli army.
The situation remains tense as both sides navigate the terms of the agreement and work towards a peaceful resolution. Violence and violations of the ceasefire continue to be a concern, and it is crucial for all parties involved to prioritize diplomacy and dialogue in order to prevent further casualties and bloodshed.
