Deniz Yücel: From Lawyer to Member of Parliament
Born in Izmir in 1977, Deniz Yücel has had a successful career in law and politics. After graduating from Izmir Atatürk High School in 1995 and Dokuz Eylül Faculty of Law in 2000, he became a freelance lawyer registered with the Izmir Bar Association in 2001.
Yücel’s political career began when he joined the Republican People’s Party in 1999. His involvement in local politics led to his election as a member of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council during the 2014 local elections, where he also served as the CHP group spokesperson.
In 2018, Yücel was elected as Provincial Chairman at the CHP Izmir Provincial Congress, further solidifying his presence in the political arena. His success continued in the 2023 Turkish general elections, where he was elected as a member of parliament from the Izmir 2nd region. He officially began his duties on May 25, 2023, and was later elected to the Party Assembly at the Ordinary Congress of the Republican People’s Party.
In addition to his impressive career, Yücel is also a family man. He is married to Gönenç Bilgen Yücel and is the proud father of two children.
