Schools in Istanbul will be on holiday on Friday, February 21, 2025, due to heavy snowfall. The announcement was made by Governor Davut Gul following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology. The snowfall, which started in the high parts of Istanbul in the morning, has increased in intensity in various districts such as Sultangazi, Eyüpsultan, Küçükçekmece, Arnavutköy, and Başakşehir.
Governor Gul emphasized the importance of the safety of students and citizens and announced that all educational institutions, including kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, and high schools, will be closed on Friday. Pregnant personnel will also be granted administrative leave.
The heavy snowfall is expected to continue throughout the province until Sunday, with ice and frost also predicted to be a concern until Monday morning. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to exercise caution when driving in these weather conditions.
