Snow and Cold Surround the Black Sea and the East
The Eastern Anatolia and Black Sea regions are currently being hit hard by snow and cold weather. Numerous village roads have been closed to traffic, causing difficulty for many residents. In a recent incident in Georgia, a family of six found themselves in danger of freezing after their car became stuck in the snow. Thankfully, both gendarmerie and AFAD teams were quick to respond and provide aid to the stranded family.
The heavy snowfall and blizzards have led to road closures and stranded vehicles across the affected regions. In Ardahan, the effects of the snow and blizzard have been particularly severe, disrupting transportation at multiple points. Similarly, in Kars, many vehicles have become stranded on the Arpaçay-Çıldır highway.
In addition to transportation issues, the snow and cold weather have also led to accidents in the region. In Susuz district, eight vehicles were involved in a chain accident, resulting in injuries to at least one person.
The Black Sea Region has not been spared from the harsh weather conditions either, with snow depth reaching up to one meter in higher areas. As a result, hundreds of village roads have been closed, prompting ongoing efforts by teams to clear the snow and ensure the safety of residents.
