Wizz Air plane mesmerizes in Budapest-Paris connection, CEO in line for £100M bonus
A unique Wizz Air plane will carry Hungarian athletes to Paris for the upcoming Olympic Games. The new aircraft, named “Team Hungary,” was unveiled at a joint press conference between the low-cost airline company and the Hungarian Olympic Committee.
Starting from 30 May, the special aircraft will operate flights between Budapest Airport and Paris-Orly, transporting the Hungarian athletes to the XXXIII Olympiad in France. Wizz Air signed a cooperation agreement with the Hungarian Olympic Committee in February, becoming the official partner and committing to providing comfortable and timely transportation for the athletes.
What makes this initiative even more special is that Hungarian athletes will travel on scheduled flights, allowing passengers to interact with them during the journey. The aircraft boasts a unique golden coloring and is dedicated to Team Hungary.
With the current team size at 161, MOB chairman Zsolt Gyulay mentioned that the number may grow to 190 with the addition of new members and backups before the games begin. This surpasses the team size that traveled to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics, which were rescheduled to 2021 due to the pandemic.
The aircraft’s design was a result of collaboration between Wizz Air’s team and engineers, with a focus on providing comfort for both athletes and passengers. The Airbus plane, built using the latest technology, arrived from Hamburg this spring for this exclusive purpose.
Wizz Air CEO József Váradi recently discussed the company’s financial incentives, including a GBP 100 million bonus tied to the share price hitting GBP 120 before 2028. Despite the criticism surrounding the bonus scheme, Váradi emphasized that it aims to benefit not just the CEO but the entire leadership, management, and employees of the company.
As the Hungarian Olympic team prepares for their journey to Paris, the collaboration between Wizz Air and the Hungarian Olympic Committee showcases a commitment to supporting and empowering Hungarian athletes on their quest for excellence.
