Worker Fatally Crushed While Laying Pipe in Construction Pit
A construction worker has lost his life in an accident during infrastructure works in the Gölcük District. Osman Remzi Suiçmez, who was working on laying concrete pipes, fell into a pit of approximately 3 meters when the ground slipped on him. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, including AFAD, firefighting, health, and police teams. Suiçmez was removed from the ground by his colleagues, but medical teams determined that he had died.
Mayor Muhammet Sait Gürsoy visited the scene and expressed his condolences, saying that the accident was a tragic event. He explained that the worker lost his life due to the excavation that had been carried out from the top down while he was working alongside the construction machine. The mayor expressed his sympathies to the family of the deceased and prayed for strength for them during this difficult time.
