Workers continue to prioritize Competitive Salaries and Benefits

Randstad’s latest survey reveals that Hungarian employees prioritize attractive wages and benefits packages in 2024, according to a report by World Economy. The survey shows that salary is the top priority, followed by a pleasant workplace atmosphere, environment, and relationships with colleagues and managers. IT remains the most attractive sector in Hungary, with many indicating Austria as their preferred work destination if going abroad.

LEGO was rated as the most attractive employer in Hungary, outperforming companies like BT (British Telecommunications) and Mercedes-Benz. The establishment of LEGO Manufacturing in Nyíregyháza in 2008 has led to the production of LEGO and Duplo toys with around 3,200 employees. The factory complex has been continuously expanding since its inauguration in 2014.

Additionally, the Equilibrium Institute and the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) have proposed initiatives to encourage the repatriation of Hungarians working abroad. The survey reveals that a significant number of respondents would consider returning to Hungary if the labor market environment could provide two-thirds of their income.

In terms of job preferences, women prioritize convenient workplace accessibility and home office options more than men, with equal treatment being a key priority. The Equilibrium Institute’s research also highlights the income needed for a modest, average, or carefree life in Hungary.

Overall, the survey sheds light on the priorities and motivations of Hungarian employees in 2024, emphasizing the significance of competitive salary packages, workplace atmosphere, and potential for growth and development in the job market.
