Xi Jinping’s Plan to Enhance China-Kazakhstan Partnership Ahead of SCO Summit
Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his intentions to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan during his upcoming state visit to Kazakhstan as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Astana.
In an article published on Kazinform on July 2, President Xi highlighted the progress made in bilateral relations and outlined the growth he expects to discuss with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The two leaders are set to map out a new blueprint for future cooperation within the SCO framework.
President Xi emphasized China’s commitment to supporting Kazakhstan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He stressed the importance of Kazakhstan following its own development path and implementing policies for prosperity while resisting external interference. The cooperation between China and Kazakhstan will be guided by principles of mutual respect, good neighborly friendship, solidarity in difficult times, and mutual benefit to ensure sustained and steady growth of their relations.
President Xi mentioned the need for deeper cooperation in various sectors such as business, trade, investment, energy, and agriculture. He also pointed out the importance of tapping into high-tech areas like new energy, digital economy, artificial intelligence, aviation, and aerospace to inject new impetus into China-Kazakhstan cooperation.
Additionally, President Xi highlighted the significance of strengthening cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. He welcomed joint education programs, research projects, and closer interactions between citizens. Expanding cooperation in education, tourism, archaeology, arts, and media will deepen the friendship between China and Kazakhstan.
President Xi called for joint efforts with Kazakhstan to address global changes and seize new opportunities amid crises. He affirmed China’s commitment to upholding the international system with the UN at its core and promoting genuine multilateralism while opposing hegemonism and power politics.
As Kazakhstan successfully chairs the SCO, China commended its efforts in enhancing the organization’s influence. President Xi expressed readiness to work with Kazakhstan towards national prosperity and rejuvenation. He called for drawing up a new blueprint for closer cooperation and opening a new chapter in China-Kazakhstan friendly relations during the upcoming SCO Summit.
