Yair Netanyahu Insults French President Macron, Sparks Controversy
Yair Netanyahu, the son of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, has come under fire for insulting French President Emmanuel Macron after Macron announced that France could recognize a Palestinian state.
In a social media post, Yair Netanyahu used harsh language to criticize Macron for his support of the legitimate rights of Palestinians to have their own state. Yair went as far as to say, “Hell to hell!” in reference to Macron.
Furthermore, Yair insulted the French President by saying, “Yes to the independence of the new Caledonia! Yes to the independence of the French Polynesia! Yes to the independence of Corsica!” This latest incident adds to a series of controversial posts made by Yair on his social media accounts.
Yair Netanyahu has a history of making inflammatory comments online. Previously, he falsely accused opposition leader Benny Gantz of engaging in inappropriate relationships. As a result, the Israeli Court ordered Yair to pay compensation for defamation.
In response to Macron’s announcement about recognizing a Palestinian state, Israel, which has not supported the two-state solution and continues to occupy Palestinian territory, expressed its opposition to the move. Macron has stated that France aims to address the issue of recognizing Palestine at an upcoming international conference on the two-state solution.
Following recent attacks by Israel on the Gaza Strip, several countries, including Spain, Norway, and Ireland, have recognized Palestine. The total number of countries recognizing Palestine now stands at 146, with more expected to follow suit.
