Yavuz Selim Kıran appointed as Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s recent appointment decisions to deputy ministers have been officially published in the Official Gazette. Among these appointments, it has been announced that Yavuz Selim Kıran has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services. These appointments have been made in accordance with Articles 2 and 3 of Presidential Decree No. 3.
During his visit to Croatia, President Erdoğan introduced Yavuz Selim Kıran specifically to Croatian President Zoran Milanovic. Kıran expressed his honor at being personally presented to the Croatian president by President Erdoğan during his visit.
Born in Ordu/Ünye in 1985, Yavuz Selim Kıran completed his education at Anafartalar Primary School and then continued to complete his secondary and high school education at Ünye Anatolian High School. He pursued his higher education in the International Relations Department at METU and was able to finish his department with honors a year early.
After completing his undergraduate education, Kıran was appointed as the Prime Ministry Press and Public Relations Advisor and played a role in preparing speeches for President Erdoğan during his time as Prime Minister. He has also held various positions such as General Secretariat Counselor of the General Secretariat for European Union Affairs, Ministerial Advisor to the Ministry of European Union Affairs, TÜBİTAK President Advisor, and TÜSSİDE Board Member. He also served as the Chief Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
In 2008, Kıran was selected for the ‘Leaders of the Future’ training program organized by the US Department of State and was the only Turkish participant selected for the Leadership Development Program organized by the Transfuse Association and the College of Europe under the sponsorship of the Bosch Foundation between July 2008 and April 2009.
Following his extensive experience, Kıran was appointed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs with a presidential decree published on 7 August 2018.
Since 2022, Kıran has been serving as the Ambassador to Zagreb. He is married and has a child.
