YÖDAK 2025 Budget Approved by Parliament – BRTK

The Higher Education, Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK) 2025 Fiscal Year Budget Bill has been approved by the General Assembly of the Republic Assembly. The budget bill, totaling 62 million 871 thousand TL, was accepted after being presented by Committee Chairperson Resimye Eroğlu Canaltay.

During the discussions on the bill, CTP Deputy Sıla Usar İncirli raised concerns about the reputation of the country due to recent scandals and called for improvements in the higher education system. Incirli highlighted the increase in the number of universities in the country and the need for better oversight of permissions granted by YÖDAK.

One of the major issues discussed was the cancellation of Cyprus’s observer membership in the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), which was brought to light in November. Incirli emphasized the importance of addressing this issue promptly to avoid any negative consequences in the future.

Democratic Party (DP) Deputy Serhat Akpınar also shared his views on strengthening YÖDAK’s control structure and increasing its reputation by becoming a member of international organizations. Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu reiterated the importance of YÖDAK’s independence and highlighted the need for effective inspections at universities.

After a series of discussions and debates, the YÖDAK budget was eventually approved by a majority vote in the General Assembly. The Assembly then moved on to discuss the budget of the Ministry of Health.

Overall, the discussions in the General Assembly highlighted the importance of improving the higher education system in the country and addressing issues such as accreditation, oversight, and reputation management. By working together to address these challenges, stakeholders aim to enhance the quality of education and strengthen the country’s position in the international arena.
