On Sunday, the Embassy of India joined hands with the Mongolian Yoga Federation to celebrate International Yoga Day at Sukhbaatar Square in the heart of Ulaanbaatar city.
The event commenced with a traditional lighting of a lamp by R.Baigali, Mongolia’s first yoga teacher who is 74 years old. During the celebration, attendees were treated to a special video message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the significance of Yoga Day.
The highlight of the 2023 Yoga Day celebration in Mongolia was a mesmerizing performance by Mongolian yoga teachers, featuring the “Surya Namaskar” (Sun Salutation) with Morin Khuur, a traditional Mongolian string instrument. Following this performance, Acharya Guruswami from India presented the Common Yoga Protocol, showcasing various yoga postures.
In a beautiful fusion of cultures, the event also incorporated the adaptation of yoga postures into the traditional Mongolian Bilge dance and aerobic yoga. Additionally, children participated in the festivities by showcasing their skills with hula hoops.
The celebration received great admiration and appreciation from all attendees, who thoroughly enjoyed the harmonious blend of Indian and Mongolian cultures through the medium of yoga.
This event serves as a testament to the growing popularity and universal appeal of yoga, transcending geographical boundaries and bringing people together in the pursuit of physical and mental well-being.
Yoga continues to play a crucial role in promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering a sense of unity among individuals from diverse backgrounds. The International Yoga Day celebration in Mongolia exemplifies the power of yoga to bridge cultures and create a sense of connectedness.
The Embassy of India and the Mongolian Yoga Federation must be commended for their efforts in organizing such a successful event that not only promotes the practice of yoga but also strengthens the bond between India and Mongolia.
As we mark another successful Yoga Day celebration, let us all remember the core principles of yoga – peace, harmony, and unity – and strive to incorporate these principles into our daily lives.
Yoga has the potential to transform lives, and events like these serve as a reminder of the positive impact it can have on individuals and communities across the globe. Let us continue to embrace yoga and cherish its ability to bring us closer, both physically and spiritually.
