President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus recently met with students from the International Down Federation in honor of World Down Syndrome Day. The event was attended by TRNC President Tülay Umut and students from Special Education Schools.
During the meeting, officials, teachers, and parents from the Ministry of National Education presented gifts to President Tatar, who in turn gifted the students with special packages. Following the reception, students from the Yeşilyurt Special Education Center and Lefke Gazi High School performed a dance in the presidential garden.
In his speech, President Tatar emphasized the importance of inclusivity and stated that it is our duty to prepare, educate, and integrate children with disabilities into society. He commended the efforts of parents and teachers in supporting these students and highlighted the advancements in medicine that offer hope for a better future.
President Tatar also expressed his gratitude for the partnership with the International Down Federation and emphasized the need to continue working towards a more inclusive society. He acknowledged the increasing population of individuals with Down syndrome and reiterated the importance of education and support for their future.

Tülay Umut, President of the International Down Federation TRNC, thanked President Tatar for his continued support and collaboration. She highlighted the organization’s efforts to provide international quality healthcare and education for individuals with Down syndrome, with the support of Turkey.
