Yusufeli Central Viaduct Begins Service

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the completion of the Yusufeli Central Viaduct, a steel orthotropic bridge built using the push-slide method. The viaduct, constructed as part of the road network changes necessitated by the Yusufeli Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, is set to open to traffic on Tuesday, June 11.

The viaduct, connecting the new Yusufeli district and surrounding villages to Artvin, will significantly reduce transportation time and distance. With approximately 7,100 tons of steel used in its construction, the viaduct stands at a height of approximately 150 meters, supported by 8 middle piers and 2 side piers. The completion of the viaduct marks a significant milestone in enhancing transportation efficiency and safety in the region.

Furthermore, Uraloğlu highlighted the cost-saving benefits of the viaduct, estimating that a total of 43 million liras will be saved thanks to the improved infrastructure. By mitigating potential hazards such as icing, rockfall, and landslides during winter months, the viaduct contributes to ensuring a safer and more comfortable travel experience for motorists.

The opening of the Yusufeli Central Viaduct will not only facilitate connectivity between the new Yusufeli district and Artvin but also enhance the overall transportation network in the region. With the introduction of this advanced engineering structure, residents and travelers alike can look forward to smoother and more efficient journeys on the roadways.
