Yusufeli Dam Water Level Reaches 131 Meters – Latest Update

Turkey’s Yusufeli Dam and HEPP on the Çoruh River in Artvin became operational last November, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in attendance. The dam, Turkey’s first, is now the fifth highest in the world, boasting a 275-meter arch structure. However, as the dam begins to store more and more water, the surrounding area has faced flooding. Currently, the dam basin has 449.15 million cubic meters of water, with a water level of 634.64 elevations and a water height of 131.14 meters. Despite the flooding, the DSI 26th Regional Directorate teams plan to begin electricity production in July. As the dam continues to control its water levels, it remains to be seen how local communities will adapt to its presence.
