Ukrainian President Zelenskiy Comments on Russian-Ukraine Conflict
President Zelenskiy of Ukraine recently addressed journalists in Kiev to discuss the ongoing developments in the Russian-Ukraine war. He highlighted the Russian attack in the Kursk region of Russia against the Ukrainian Armed Forces, describing the situation in Kursk as “very heavy.”
Zelenskiy emphasized that the Ukrainian army’s goal of entering the region in 2024 was to prevent Russian attacks on the Sumi and Harkiv regions of Ukraine. He expressed the aim of withdrawing Russia’s troops from Ukraine for the defense of the region.
Furthermore, Zelenskiy mentioned that progress had been made on the front towards the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, stating that the situation there had “healed.” He expressed confidence in the stabilization of the situation and believed it would be challenging for the enemy to occupy Pokrovsk again.
Regarding the US-proposed 30-day ceasefire, Zelenskiy spoke of using this opportunity to control the situation on the front. He highlighted the importance of satellite surveillance and intelligence sharing between the US and Ukraine to monitor and address any violations.
