Zoomlion expands manufacturing facility in Hungary

Chinese construction and agricultural machine maker Zoomlion is making a significant investment in Hungary. The company is set to invest EUR 100 million in Tatabánya, Western Hungary, to establish a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) manufacturing plant. This announcement was made by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade State Secretary Levente Magyar on Friday.
Magyar highlighted the importance of this investment project and stated that it would be one of the largest of the year. He also mentioned that Zoomlion already has bases in Germany and Italy, and the Hungarian government is fully supportive of the company’s expansion efforts in the country.
Chinese investments in Hungary have been steadily increasing, reaching HUF 5,500 billion between 2014 and 2024, which accounts for 44% of all Chinese investments in Europe. Zoomlion’s president, Chunxin Zhan, stated that this investment will lead to the creation of 800 jobs and emphasized the company’s commitment to building strong relationships with local suppliers. Production at the new manufacturing plant could potentially begin later this year.
This development is a significant boost for the Hungarian economy and further strengthens the ties between China and Hungary in the industrial sector. With Zoomlion’s investment and job creation, the Hungarian workforce and economy stand to benefit greatly from this partnership.
