Aydın Gendarmerie rescues lost group of 10 people in canyon
A group of 10 people who had traveled from Istanbul to visit a canyon found themselves lost and in need of help. One of the individuals, referred to as AT, contacted the emergency hotline 112 to request assistance. They mentioned that they were not in immediate danger but had lost their way back from the area they had set out for the trip. They could see the lights of the city and estimated being approximately 2 kilometers away from the settlement.
Upon receiving the distress call, teams and a UAV from the Aydın Provincial Gendarmerie Command were immediately dispatched to the region to locate and rescue the stranded group.
With the help of the UAV conducting reconnaissance activities, the teams were able to pinpoint the location of the lost individuals based on the heat signature detected in the area.
Due to the challenging terrain that was both steep and dark, a helicopter was requested to safely retrieve the trapped group. The helicopter successfully brought all 10 individuals from Aydın to safety and they were then taken to Edremit State Hospital for medical check-ups.
Thanks to the swift response and coordination of the rescue teams, the group of visitors was successfully rescued from their predicament in the canyon.
