
Central Asian intelligence chiefs gather in Tashkent for inaugural meeting

The inaugural meeting of intelligence agency heads from Central Asian countries took place in Tashkent, focusing on bolstering regional collaboration to address contemporary security threats and challenges.
Organized under the umbrella of Uzbekistan’s leadership of the 7th Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders, the gathering commenced with a message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, highlighting the significance of intelligence agency dialogue in formulating joint strategies and effective security mechanisms.
Participants delved into formulating unified strategies for evaluating modern threats and risks to regional security, with a particular emphasis on stepping up cooperation among intelligence agencies to tackle these challenges.
Discussions revolved around pressing matters concerning regional security, such as counter-terrorism, extremism, illicit trafficking of narcotics and weapons, transnational crime, and the protection of information and cybersecurity. Additionally, delegates explored other avenues for mutually beneficial collaboration.
The meeting was deemed a pivotal moment in enhancing security cooperation among Central Asian nations, setting the stage for regular gatherings of intelligence chiefs to further fortify peace and stability across the region.
