Swimming from Turkey to Spain: Adventurer aims to cover 10 thousand kilometers in 10 years
Jari Cennet Tammi, a 65-year-old Swedish adventurer, embarked on an incredible journey from the Sea of Marmara in Turkey to Spain. Tammi decided to challenge herself by swimming the entire distance, only taking breaks to camp along the shore.
During her journey, Tammi reached Uçmakdere in Tekirdağ’s Şarköy district, where she was warmly welcomed and hosted by a couple, Mesut and Ayvacıklı, from Nilüfer Adalı. Speaking about her experience, Tammi praised the hospitality of the Turkish people and expressed her gratitude for the warmth and kindness she encountered along the Turkish coast.
On her solo adventure, Tammi shared that she found solace in being surrounded by the sea and nature. She mentioned that she established new friendships every time she stopped along the shore and was amazed by the support and camaraderie she received from strangers.
Tammi revealed that her ultimate goal is to cover a distance of approximately 10 thousand kilometers in 10 years, starting from Turkey and ending in Spain. She expressed her desire to document her journey and turn it into a book to inspire future generations.
Mesut Ayvacıklı, who hosted Tammi during her stop in Uçmakdere, emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about her remarkable feat. He commended Tammi for her determination and commitment to swimming along the coastlines of multiple countries, covering a total distance of 8 thousand kilometers.
As Tammi continues her journey towards Spain, she remains focused on her goal of swimming approximately 10 thousand kilometers over the course of 10 years. With the support of kind-hearted individuals like Mesut and Ayvacıklı, Tammi is determined to make her dream a reality and leave a lasting legacy through her adventurous spirit and perseverance.
