A mother’s worst nightmare turned into a moment of relief thanks to the quick thinking of an emergency medical technician.
In Sanliurfa, a mother called the 112 Emergency Call Center in a panic when she realized her breastfeeding baby was blocked. Emergency Medical Technician Zehra Tankus answered the call and instructed the mother to stay calm while sending an ambulance. Tankus then guided the mother to gently pat the baby’s back five times, which resulted in the baby coughing and breathing normally again.
Tankus’s critical intervention not only saved the baby’s life but also brought comfort to the terrified mother. Both the mother and the baby took a deep breath of relief after the incident.
For her heroic actions, Tankus was awarded a plaque of appreciation by the Provincial Health Directorate. This heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the importance of staying calm in emergency situations and the vital role that emergency responders play in saving lives.
