The Mongolian Red Cross Society provides aid to herders affected by zhud disaster

The Mongolian Red Cross Society recently announced the aid that was provided to herders affected by the zhud disaster in Mongolia during 2023-2024. A total of 7.6 billion MNT in aid was given to 11,350 herding families in 21 provinces that were impacted by the zhud disaster. The aid included cash, mineral fodder packages, food, and hygiene packages to support the affected families during this difficult time.

Members from the Mongolian Red Cross Society worked diligently in the Emergency headquarters of the State Emergency Commission from November 8 to May 15. Their efforts were focused on the riskiest provinces to ensure that aid reached those in need as quickly as possible.

Various organizations contributed to the aid provided by the Mongolian Red Cross Society, including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, United States Agency for International Development, United Nations Population Fund, Australian Government, Australian Red Cross, Chinese Red Cross, Chinese Embassy, South Korean Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, “Badrakh Energy” LLC, European Union, and the Serbian Government.

The collaborative efforts of these organizations and the hard work of the Mongolian Red Cross Society have made a significant impact in supporting herders affected by the zhud disaster in Mongolia. It is through such partnerships and dedication to humanitarian efforts that communities are able to recover and rebuild after facing challenges such as natural disasters.
