13 Defendants Testify in CHP Congress Investigation

CHP Leader Elected Under Allegations of Vote Buying

During the 38th Ordinary General Assembly, CHP leader Ozgur Ozel was elected to the presidency amidst allegations of vote buying. The investigation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has revealed new information through two witnesses.

Witness Kemal Ölmez claimed that during the Ordinary Congress, delegates from Hakkari were contacted through various numbers in an attempt to change their votes. He stated that he was offered 600 thousand TL and a mobile phone in exchange for voting for a specific candidate, which he refused.

Another witness, Nazım Demir, who was the president of Hakkari CHP during the congress, reported that delegates were offered money, authority, and positions in exchange for their votes. He also mentioned that Mehmet Fatih Taş, the son of CHP Hakkari Central District Chairman Hurşit Taş, was allegedly hired by Izmir Karşıyaka Municipality just a few days before the congress.

The investigation has so far involved 13 witnesses, shedding light on the alleged irregularities during the CHP congress. The newly elected party administration is now facing scrutiny for their involvement in these accusations.
