New Images Revealed from Natural Gas Explosion in Kocaeli
The aftermath of a devastating natural gas explosion in Kocaeli on December 28 has been captured in new images released to the public. The explosion, which resulted in 13 injuries, took place in the Darıca district, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
The incident unfolded with sparks rising and the camera capturing a blinding white light as the explosion occurred. The ground floor of a 4-story building was engulfed in flames, causing rubble to scatter on the street. Fire crews quickly responded to the scene, managing to extinguish the fire and attend to the injured.
Fortunately, the 13 individuals hurt in the explosion sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. The security camera footage from a nearby apartment building depicted the chaotic moments following the blast.
Investigations later revealed that an unauthorized excavation damaged the steel line belonging to the natural gas distribution company, leading to the malfunction that triggered the explosion. As a precautionary measure, schools in the area remained closed for 2 days, and the gas supply was cut off for 1 day.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Nevzat Şatıroğlu visited the natural gas company to gather more information about the incident. It was disclosed that the disruption affected not only Bayramoğlu District but also several neighboring areas, culminating in the unfortunate explosion that caused injuries to 13 individuals.
The community now grapples with the aftermath of the explosion, as authorities strive to ensure the safety and security of residents in the region.
