13,000 Kyrgyzstanis Receive Prosthetic and Orthopedic Products in 2023
The Republican Institution of Prosthetic and Orthopedic Products in Kyrgyzstan has provided 13,000 citizens with disabilities with prosthetic and orthopedic products in 2023, according to the latest report from the institution’s press service. The institution has been working to improve the appearance of orthopedic shoes and has incorporated modern pneumatic knees and carbon feet into the manufacture of prosthetics.
The prosthetists at the institution have also produced a modern active traction prosthetic arm called Kibi for 13 children. This prosthetic arm works without electronics and is water-resistant, and it was produced for a total amount of 1.8 million soms. The components for the lightweight prosthesis were sourced from the Motorika company, which is a resident of the Skolkovo innovation center. This development is significant as it eliminates the need for parents and children to travel to foreign countries for modern prosthetics, as they can now be manufactured in Kyrgyzstan and fully financed from the state budget.
In addition to these advancements, the Republican Institution of Prosthetic and Orthopedic Products is also collaborating with the Assanabil Charity Foundation to renovate production workshops and the facade of the building. The institution’s building has not undergone major repairs since 1987, making these renovations crucial for improving the overall facilities.
The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan has noted the importance of these developments in providing citizens with disabilities access to modern and high-quality prosthetic and orthopedic products within the country. The ongoing efforts to improve and modernize the institution’s facilities demonstrate a commitment to serving the needs of individuals with disabilities and enhancing their quality of life.
