
13,561 People Graduate with Doctorates Last Year

The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has recently released the 2024 University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report, providing insight into the number of doctoral graduates in Turkish universities.
According to the report, a total of 13,561 students completed their doctorate degrees in 2023 from 166 universities across the country. This marks an increase from the 11,290 graduates in 2022, indicating growth in the academic sector.
Ankara University emerged as the leading institution in terms of producing doctoral graduates, with 846 students receiving their degrees. Following closely behind were Istanbul University with 642 graduates, Gazi University with 626 graduates, Marmara University with 542 graduates, and Hacettepe University with 526 graduates.
Other universities that made it to the top 10 list include Ege University, Atatürk University, Middle East Technical University, Dokuz Eylül University, and Selçuk University, highlighting the diverse range of academic institutions contributing to the country’s pool of doctoral recipients.
Overall, the increase in the number of doctoral graduates reflects the commitment of Turkish universities to enhancing research and academic excellence, further solidifying their position as key players in the higher education landscape.
