Traffic Jam on Too-Ashuu Pass Leads to Medical Emergencies
Bishkek – 16:00, 16 October 2024 – At least 14 people who were stuck in a traffic jam on Too-Ashuu pass sought medical assistance, according to the press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan.
Nine of these individuals required medical attention during the night, with an additional five seeking help today. The Ministry stated that all of them were provided with outpatient care for issues such as acute respiratory viral infections and high blood pressure.
Medical personnel are stationed at Sosnovka post and in Toktogul, with a permanent ambulance post in Suusamyr. The traffic jam on Too-Ashuu pass was caused by heavy snowfall and icy conditions, but the road is now open for the passage of cars that were previously stranded.
Restrictions have been implemented at Sosnovka and Aral transport control posts for trucks and cars, with vehicles being checked for winter readiness, including winter tires, anti-skid snow chains, and necessary equipment like shovels. Vehicles that are not prepared for winter conditions will not be allowed to pass through the pass, in an effort to prevent artificial traffic jams and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
