16 Organizers Arrested in ‘Kalkan-21’ Bust

“KALKAN-21” operations lead to arrests of immigrant smuggling organizers in Muğla and Adana

Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya has announced that a series of operations, known as “KALKAN-21,” were conducted in Muğla and Adana targeting immigrant smugglers. These operations were carried out under the coordination of the Directorate of Immigration Management, General Directorate of Security, and Combating Immigrant Smuggling and Border Gates Department.

In Muğla, 5 immigrant smuggling organizer suspects were apprehended, with 3 of them being arrested. The remaining 2 suspects were placed under a judicial control order. Meanwhile, in Adana, a total of 11 suspects were arrested, out of which 7 were foreign nationals. 9 suspects were arrested, and a judicial control order was issued for 2 of them.

The operations also resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of foreign currency and Turkish Lira. Minister Yerlikaya shared a tweet highlighting the success of the operations and the arrests made during “KALKAN-21.”
