A morning earthquake in the Talas region of Kyrgyzstan has resulted in at least 17 residential buildings being damaged, according to reports from the Emergencies Ministry.

The district civil commission has noted that 17 residential buildings have been affected, with cracks appearing in the walls. Out of these, 11 were insured while 6 were not covered.

Fortunately, no emergency buildings posing a threat have been identified. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed as the buildings are being inspected.

The Emergencies Ministry is urging citizens whose homes may have been impacted by the earthquake to report any damage by calling 112.

The earthquake, which occurred at 4:42 a.m. today, had its epicenter located in Kazakhstan, specifically 18 kilometers north of Kopuro-Bazar village, 135 kilometers from Bishkek, and 135 kilometers from Taraz in Kazakhstan.

Seismologists from the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan have reported that the intensity of the tremors in populated areas reached magnitude 6 in Kopuro-Bazar village and around magnitude 4 in Bishkek.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and provide assistance to those affected by the earthquake.
