17th Lurucina Fair Takes Over Village Square
The 17th Once Upon a Time Lurucina Fair was a huge success, bringing together villagers and visitors for a day filled with food, fun, and culture. Stands selling traditional Cypriot food, drinks, and handicrafts lined the village square, offering a taste of the local culture.
The event featured a lively folk dance show and a musical concert with a choir, adding to the festive atmosphere. Değirmenlik Akıncılar Village Headman, Mustafa Eymez, expressed his gratitude for everyone who helped make the event possible, highlighting its significance for the village.
Mayor Ali Karavezirler of Değirmenlik Akıncılar also shared his thoughts on the village’s development, noting that despite its secluded location, Akıncılar has great potential for growth. With an investment of nearly 7 million, including a new water tank to address the water problem, the village is on track for progress.
Tufan Erhürman, Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party, praised the unique culture of Lurucina, emphasizing its importance and resilience despite a declining population. He predicted a bright future for the village, declaring Lurucina as the chief village of culture.
Erhürman’s words resonated with the audience, as he acknowledged the deep connection that Luricinans have with their village, no matter where they may be. As the fair came to an end, the spirit of Lurucina and its people continued to live on, promising a future filled with culture, community, and tradition.
