New Loan and Scholarship Amounts Announced by President Erdoğan for 2024
President Erdoğan recently revealed the revised loan and scholarship amounts for the year 2024. During a cabinet meeting, he stated that the wage for undergraduate students would increase from 1,250 lira to 2,000 lira. For graduate students, the amount will rise from 2,500 lira to 4,000 lira, while doctoral students will receive a hike from 3,750 lira to 6,000 lira. Precautions are being taken to mitigate the rising cost of living, which has been a significant concern in recent months. Opportunistic behaviors will not be tolerated, and the government calls for unity and cooperation in combating inflation through various campaigns. The construction of 200,000 houses is progressing rapidly in the 11 provinces affected by the earthquakes. The completion and delivery of these houses will commence soon, with a target of providing 41,000 residences and 5,000 village houses by the end of the year. Additional houses will be handed over gradually. Moreover, a new loan package is being launched in collaboration with KOSGEB and the World Bank, offering interest-free loans ranging from 200,000 lira to 750,000 lira per business for SMEs in the earthquake zone.
To combat inflation, the government has also engaged the business world through various campaigns. Over 400 companies with nearly 50,000 branches have participated in the “discount campaign” call, with this number steadily increasing. The aim is to reduce inflation, which affects both the country and the global economy, to single digits once again.
