Significant Advances in Kyrgyzstan’s Sports Development

Kyrgyzstan is making remarkable strides in the development of its sports sector, according to Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry. He shared these insights during the opening ceremony of the SCO International Marathon Run the Silk Road – 2025.
Torobaev announced that funding for sports has seen a significant increase, with allocations doubled in 2024 to 2.141 billion som. An anticipated budget of 2.445 billion som has been earmarked for 2025, underscoring the government’s commitment to nurturing athletic talent and enhancing sports infrastructure.
He emphasized the ongoing construction of new sports facilities, including the largest stadium in Central Asia, which is being developed to meet FIFA standards. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to elevate the country’s sporting capabilities.
Kyrgyz athletes are also making their mark on the international stage, having won a remarkable 835 medals last year, demonstrating the success of the nation’s investments in sports.
As Kyrgyzstan continues to build its athletic infrastructure and support its athletes, the future of sports in the country looks promising.
