The first quarter of 2025 has seen a significant financial boost for Kyrgyzstan, as the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) transferred a total of 5.5 billion soms in import customs duties. This figure, reported by the Ministry of Finance, marks an increase of 0.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

A substantial portion of these funds—4.6 billion soms—originated from Russia, underscoring the critical role that bilateral trade plays in Kyrgyzstan’s economy.

According to insights from the Eurasian Economic Commission, the import customs duties that have been collected are subject to further crediting and will be distributed among the budgets of the EAEU member states. This mechanism is pivotal for ensuring a balanced economic environment within the union and providing essential funding for member states.

As Kyrgyzstan continues to engage in trade activities within the EAEU framework, these revenues are essential for supporting various economic initiatives and improving national infrastructure.
