Ankara Governor Şahin Announces New Year’s Eve Security Measures
Ankara Governor, Vasip Şahin, recently held a press conference to discuss the security measures that will be implemented throughout the city for the upcoming New Year celebrations. The primary goal of these measures is to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the residents of Ankara.
During the press conference, Şahin emphasized the importance of citizen cooperation and urged the public to contact law enforcement or other responsible units in case of any emergencies. He also assured that essential services such as fire brigade, hospitals, ambulances, transportation, and technical support for electricity and water will be available to citizens throughout the night.
In terms of security personnel, Şahin revealed that the police and gendarmerie have put in place rigorous security measures with a total of 18,735 police officers and 1,789 gendarmerie personnel stationed at 403 different points across the city. Additionally, strict inspections will be conducted on intercity roads, transportation hubs, airports, and entertainment centers to ensure the safety of the public.
As part of the security measures, several roads will be closed to traffic starting from 7:00 PM. The affected roads include sections of Ashkabat Street, Bestekar Street, GMK Boulevard, Atatürk Boulevard, Milli Müdafaa Street, Ziya Gökalp Street, Tunalı Hilmi Street, Tunus Street, Oğuzhan Asiltürk Street, Palestine Street, Azerbaijan Street, Selanik Street, Yüksel Street, Olgunlar Street, Kumrular Street, İnkılap Street, Karanfil Street, and various other streets in Ankara.
Governor Şahin concluded the press conference by extending his warmest wishes to all Ankara residents for a happy, peaceful, healthy, and successful New Year in 2025. The efforts made by authorities to ensure the safety and security of the city during the New Year’s Eve celebrations are commendable, and it is hoped that everyone will enjoy a festive and safe night.
