22 Fast Food Outlets Shut Down in Bishkek Following Mass Food Poisoning

Mass Food Poisoning in Bishkek Leads to Inspection and Fines for Public Food Outlets

After a recent outbreak of mass food poisoning in Bishkek, 95 public food outlets were inspected from October 1 to October 6. The inspections were carried out by the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Center. According to Kuban Kundashev, the center’s chief physician, a total of 90 protocols were drawn up, resulting in fines amounting to 1,216 million soms for detected sanitary violations.

In addition, 22 sanitary orders have been prepared, which will require the closure of these outlets until the identified violations are addressed.

The inspections were temporarily halted during the CIS summit but are set to resume this week. Kuban Kundashev emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and hygiene of public food establishments to prevent any further incidents of food poisoning.

This comes in light of 71 people being hospitalized due to food poisoning in early October, specifically from fast food outlets. These outlets were fined a total of 72,000 soms for the violations identified during the inspections and were closed until the necessary corrective actions were taken.

The Ministry of Health has announced that unscheduled inspections will be conducted at all fast food outlets in order to maintain the safety and well-being of the public.

It is crucial for food establishments to prioritize hygiene and comply with sanitary regulations to prevent any potential health risks. The authorities are committed to ensuring the highest standards for public health and will continue to take necessary measures to address any violations and maintain the well-being of the population.
