24/7 Customs Service at Kyrgyz-Chinese Border Checkpoints

Customs Service officers in Kyrgyzstan have stepped up their efforts to streamline border crossing processes by implementing new measures at key checkpoints. Beginning on March 1st, officers at Torugart-Avtodorozhny and Irkeshtam-Avtodorozhny checkpoints will work around the clock, seven days a week.

To enhance the capacity of these checkpoints, infrastructure improvements are underway. At Torugart checkpoint, the administrative building of the complex Torugart-2 has been reconstructed to accommodate six-lane traffic. Covered, insulated hangars have also been installed to facilitate customs control for up to six vehicles simultaneously.

In addition to physical upgrades, efforts are being made to automate customs processes and enhance customs control in order to promote foreign trade. Cameras for reading state license plates have been installed at both checkpoints, and the integration of hardware and software complexes for centralized monitoring is in progress.

A new initiative called the Sanarip Tamga project has been launched in pilot mode to optimize business processes at border crossing points. This project includes the introduction of a new portal for submitting preliminary information and a system for interaction between controlling authorities at the border. The Sanarip Tamga project aims to facilitate the exchange of information between participants of foreign economic activity and controlling authorities, as well as to streamline decision-making processes before the arrival of goods at the checkpoint. This project also includes the implementation of the One Window mechanism and One Stop principle to eliminate duplication of functions at the border.

These advancements mark a significant step towards improving efficiency and transparency at Kyrgyzstan’s border checkpoints, ultimately facilitating smoother cross-border trade operations for businesses and travelers.
