25 Suspects Arrested in Church Attack Investigation
Twenty-five suspects have been arrested in connection with the armed attack on the Santa Maria Church in Sarıyer, which resulted in the tragic death of 52-year-old Tuncer Murat Cihan. The attack, which took place on Sunday, prompted the Istanbul Police Department to detain a total of 60 people in a series of operations.
Following the attack, 26 of the suspects were deported and sent to a repatriation center, while 34 others were detained and later brought to the Bayrampaşa State Hospital for a health check. After the health check, they were referred to Çağlayan Courthouse, where they underwent further legal proceedings.
In a statement released by Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, it was revealed that an arrest warrant was issued for 25 suspects, including an individual named Amirjon Khliqov, who is suspected of being affiliated with the DAESH Armed Terrorist Organization. Additionally, a judicial control order was issued for 9 other suspects.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the authorities working diligently to bring those responsible to justice. The tragic loss of Tuncer Murat Cihan has prompted swift action from law enforcement, and the arrests made signify a crucial step forward in the pursuit of justice for the victims of this senseless act of violence.
