Uzbekistan and Afghanistan Strengthen Trade and Investment Cooperation
On June 2, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade held a meeting with Afghanistan’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Haji Nooruddin Azizi. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current state of trade-economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed the progress of implementing major joint infrastructure projects and identified specific measures to increase mutual trade volumes. They also talked about activating the activities of border trade zones and developing investment cooperation.
One of the key topics of discussion was the upcoming joint business forum, which will be attended by over 250 Afghan entrepreneurs. Additionally, they discussed plans for the “Made in Afghanistan” exhibition, which will showcase products from 75 major Afghan companies operating in various sectors such as jewelry, textiles, food, electrical engineering, mining, transport, and logistics.
Both parties expressed confidence that these initiatives, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan, will significantly enhance mutual cooperation between the business circles of the two countries. They believe that it will lead to increased trade volumes and the initiation of new mutually beneficial initiatives.
Overall, the meeting between the ministers signals a positive step towards strengthening trade and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. This collaboration is expected to bring about mutual benefits for both countries and further deepen their economic ties.
