3.5 Tons of Anchovy Sold Out in Record Time

Mamak Mayor Murat Köse and Hundreds of People Gather for Anchovy Festival
Mamak Mayor Murat Köse recently joined hundreds of people in attending the Anchovy Festival held at Mamak Üreğil National Garden. The festival was a celebration of the delicious fish, with 3.5 tons of anchovies cooked on barbecues and distributed to 5 thousand attendees.
In addition to enjoying the freshly cooked anchovies, festival-goers also had the opportunity to partake in traditional Turkish dances such as horon, accompanied by the lively sounds of the kemenche.
Mayor Köse expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, “Our aim is to increase the unity of the people. We have held different festivals here, but nothing is like the anchovy festival. We say ‘Anchovy is caught in the Black Sea but eaten in Mamak’. People here have a good time with their families and children. Our fish is very fresh. ‘Caught in the evening, came in the morning.'”
The festival was a huge success, selling out all 3.5 tons of anchovies in just 2 hours. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the local delicacy in a beautiful natural setting.
For those who missed out on this year’s Anchovy Festival, be sure to keep an eye out for future events in Mamak. It’s an experience not to be missed!
