30 Arrested in ‘Mahzen-49’ Operation Dismantling Organized Crime Group
A major crackdown on organized crime groups across multiple provinces in Turkey has resulted in the arrest of 30 suspects, including the ringleader. The operations, known as “Mahzen-49,” were carried out in Ankara, Istanbul, Rize, Kastamonu, Kırıkkale, Çorum, Düzce, and Sakarya, based in Çankırı.
The suspects were found guilty of various crimes, including establishing criminal organizations, threatening businesses, drug trafficking, and illegal arms trading. The successful operations led to the seizure of 15 unlicensed pistols, 10 unlicensed rifles, a large sum of money, and various amounts of drugs.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya commended the efforts of the police officers involved in the operations, stating, “We are determined to rid our country of organized crime organizations and gangs of any size. We will not rest until justice is served. My heartfelt congratulations to our heroic police officers. Our nation stands behind you in prayer.”
The ringleader of the collapsed organized crime group was identified as Durmuş Görmez, and the swift actions taken by law enforcement have been praised for their effectiveness in combating criminal activities.
