“35-Year-Old Building Undergoes On-Site Transformation”

A 35-year-old building in Kartal, Istanbul, known as the Erdogan Apartment, has been found to have cracked support columns and rotting iron. The five brothers who own the building have expressed concern about its safety, as the load-bearing columns are situated in the middle. In response, they have applied to the Half of Us in Urban Transformation Campaign.
Teams affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change have also taken action, visiting the site to begin the construction process on the demolished building. Residents have been reassured that the teams will ensure the safety of the building’s occupants during the renovation.
The management of the Erdogan Apartment noted that the building is among the many that are aging and in need of renovation in Turkey. Following this incident, homeowners are encouraged to take necessary actions to ensure the safety of their buildings, which may include applying for renovation projects offered by the government.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change recommends that individuals query the damage assessment status of their buildings through data matrix after an earthquake. Through this process, the extent of the damage caused by earthquakes can be determined, and necessary steps to ensure the safety of the building and its occupants can be taken.
