43 Arrested in Anti-DAESH Operation Across 22 Provinces
Minister Yerlikaya announced on his social media account that the Gendarmerie has made significant progress in the fight against terrorism. In the last 3 weeks, the “GÜRZ-31-32-33” operations against the DAESH Terrorist Organization in 22 provinces have resulted in the capture of 182 suspected members of the organization.
Among the suspects, 43 have been arrested, while 24 have been placed under judicial control. Operations are still ongoing for the remaining suspects. Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of social solidarity and common values in the fight against terrorism, stating that these are effective defense mechanisms.
The operations were carried out under the coordination of the Anti-Terrorism Department of various Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices and the Gendarmerie General Command in provinces such as Adana, Antalya, and Istanbul. The suspects are being investigated for various crimes related to terrorist activities, including membership in a terrorist organization and financing.
As a result of the operations, a significant amount of organizational documents and digital materials have been seized. Minister Yerlikaya commended the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Gendarmerie for their coordinated efforts in combating terrorism.
