Two New Hydropower Plants to be Constructed in Kyrgyz Republic According to 2025 Budget
In the draft republican budget of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2025 and the planning period of 2026-2027, funds have been allocated for the construction of two new hydropower plants. The Ministry of Finance’s press service reported that 2,146 billion soms will be allocated for the construction of the Orto-Tokoi small hydropower plant (HPP) in 2026, while 1,567 billion soms are planned for the construction of the Kambarata HPP the following year. This totals to 3,007 billion soms, or approximately $44 million.
These projects are part of the state program for the development of energy infrastructure in Kyrgyz Republic, with the goal of increasing electricity production in the country.
