46 Suspects Arrested in Istanbul Anti-DAESH Operation
46 suspects linked to the terrorist organization DAESH were recently caught in Istanbul as part of a major operation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation, which targeted a total of 52 suspects, revealed that the ringleader, Ismail O, was involved in illegal activities including organizing secret meetings and operating within mosques to recruit new members for the organization.
It was also discovered that the suspects were collecting funds under the guise of Fitre, zakat, and infak to support the terrorist organization. Following the decision to detain the suspects, security forces carried out simultaneous operations at 52 different addresses across 9 districts in Istanbul, resulting in the arrest of the 46 individuals.
During the operation, authorities confiscated two unlicensed pistols, a rifle, and a significant amount of organizational documents. After completing the necessary safety procedures, the suspects were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. Out of the 40 suspects whose statements were taken at the prosecutor’s office, 40 were subsequently referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for their arrest.
This successful operation serves as a significant blow to the activities of DAESH in the region, demonstrating the commitment of Turkish authorities to combatting terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
