5 Million Lira Extortion: Swift Action in Istanbul
A daring robbery took place in Istanbul, where two armed men managed to steal 5 million lira from a person who had just left the bank. The incident occurred on January 24 in Zeytinburnu Seyitnizam District.
According to reports, the victim exited the bank with two bags full of money and entered a waiting car. It was at this moment that the armed robbers made their move, snatching the bags from the car and fleeing the scene. Despite the courageous effort of a passerby who attempted to trip the robbers, they managed to escape successfully.
However, the surrounding people quickly alerted the police, who promptly arrived at the scene. After examining security footage, the police were able to identify the suspects and subsequently apprehended the two robbers.
Yakup Bay, a shopkeeper in the area, recounted the harrowing event, stating, “They were two people and both of them had guns in their hands. He lowered the mask on his face and took the money from the citizen’s hand. When he saw the gun, he had to leave the money.”
The swift action by the police led to the capture of the perpetrators and the recovery of the stolen money. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and quick response in the face of criminal acts.
