51 Students Hospitalized in Şile After Consuming Rations from IMM

51 students at Şile 75. Yıl Secondary School were hospitalized after consuming food packages distributed by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The packages contained sandwiches, cakes, milk, apples, and water. Unfortunately, the sandwiches were found to contain cheddar cheese, tomato, and lettuce which led to students experiencing symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.

Upon receiving complaints, the school administration immediately contacted 112 Emergency Service, and 51 students were taken to Şile State Hospital for treatment. The students are currently undergoing medical care and monitoring at the hospital.

In response to the incident, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stated that 2 National Education inspectors have been appointed to investigate the issue. He emphasized the importance of food safety and the necessity of taking witness samples before distributing food items. The Governor also highlighted that the food packages were distributed to students on the way to school, not within the school premises.

Provincial Director of National Education Assoc. Dr. Murat Mücahit Yentür reassured the public that the administrative process has been initiated and the students are being closely monitored for their health. He acknowledged the concern of parents and stated that all necessary precautions are being taken by education officials.
