6 Arrested for Firing Guns and Blocking Road at Soldier’s Farewell Ceremony
Police investigate individuals firing into the air during military festivity in Istanbul
After images circulated on national press and social media of individuals firing into the air during a military festivity in Istanbul’s Beykoz district, the Istanbul Police Department launched an investigation. It was discovered that HCA fired blanks into the air, while BA fired a pump-action shotgun. Both individuals were detained, and the weapons seen in the footage were confiscated.
Additionally, the drivers of two cars and a motorcycle that blocked the road and obstructed traffic flow were identified as Ö.K., HBÇ, MEK, and FBK. FBK, who was on the front tire of the motorcycle, was fined along with the other drivers a total of 30,479 liras.
HCA was released after his procedures were completed by judicial authorities, while BA is expected to be referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station for “deliberately endangering public security.”
The Istanbul Police Department continues to investigate the incident to ensure public safety and adherence to the law during such events.
