600K TL Robbery Foiled on New Year’s Morning

On January 1, the first day of the new year, a heist took place at a mechanic shop on Turhan Cemal Beriker Boulevard in the Seyhan district. Murat A. (30) and Azat F. (25) allegedly entered the shop by cutting the main iron on the window. The suspects then forced a steel safe open with a crowbar and made away with electronic goods and foreign currency amounting to 600 thousand Turkish Lira. The robbery lasted for about two hours before the perpetrators disappeared with the stolen goods.

The theft was only discovered on January 2, when the business owner, İbrahim P., found that the safe had been opened and reported the situation to the police. The Theft and Pickpocketing Bureau teams were then dispatched to the region to investigate.

Upon reviewing the security cameras in the area, the police identified Murat A. and Azat F. as the culprits behind the robbery. Both suspects, who had previous theft records, were apprehended during a police operation at their homes in the Onur District of Seyhan. After being taken to the police station, they admitted to their crimes in their statements.

Following their arrest, both individuals were referred to court and subsequently detained for their involvement in the heist. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by criminal activity, and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts in maintaining public safety.
