64,000 Employed, 90,000 Jobs Expected in the Future

In the first six months of this year, a total of 64,000 individuals from Uzbekistan have been legally sent abroad for employment opportunities, marking a significant increase compared to the same period last year. This surge in numbers can be attributed to the efforts made to facilitate temporary employment abroad, with a focus on expanding the range of destination countries to include developed nations.
In the upcoming months, plans are underway to send an additional 90,000 individuals to work in countries such as South Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. This initiative is part of the “work abroad – from the mahalla” principle, which aims to provide opportunities for unemployed individuals through vocational training, business education, and language skills development.
Recently, a draft order by the Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction was published, outlining the regulations for allocating subsidies and compensations to labor migrants from Uzbekistan. This initiative aligns with the presidential decree issued on April 4, 2024, which seeks to enhance the processes surrounding labor migration and provide further support to individuals engaged in temporary employment abroad.
Overall, these efforts reflect a concerted push towards improving the livelihoods of Uzbek citizens by offering viable employment opportunities overseas and ensuring their successful integration into the workforce of developed countries.
